MUMBAI: After BMC’s bid to revamp Shivaji Park by spending Rs 4 crore, chief minister Uddhav Thackeray has allocated Rs 1.25 crore to illuminate walkways at Shivaji Park from his Member of Legislative Council (MLC) funds. This is one of the first projects that will be undertaken from the CM’s MLC fund.
In a recent letter to Mumbai suburban collector Milind Borikar, Thackeray has said: “Many senior citizens and sportspersons use walkways at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park. But there is not enough light here and this causes inconvenience to citizens. So I request you to allocate Rs 1.25 crore from my MLC funds for additional illumination of this walkway,” Thackeray said in his letter.
His letter comes weeks after MNS chief Raj Thackeray wrote to the BMC chief, for permission to get corporate funds for the project.
The CM’s request has been sent for nod, as a special case, said an official.
