Delhi Cuts Drinking Age To 21, Announces Excise Reforms For More Revenue


The legal age for drinking in Delhi has been brought down from 25 to 21, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia informed on Monday, as he announced a new liquor policy in the national capital. Announcing several new rules for operating liquor shops in the city, he said the Delhi government is expecting a hike of at least 20 percent in its annual excise revenue with the reforms. “There can be an increase of 1,500-2,000 crores in annual revenue in a year,” he said at a press conference.
