Delhi Lockdown Extended By A Week As Covid Cases Soar

Public opinion is also that lockdown should increase, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said.

New Delhi:

The ongoing lockdown in Delhi has been extended by another week, with the national capital still showing a high positivity rate despite a marginal drop in the daily figures.

Making the announcement, Delhi Chief Minster Arvind Kejriwal said, “Corona still continues to wreak havoc. Public opinion is also that lockdown should increase. So the lockdown is being extended for one week”.

There is 36 per cent to 37 per cent positivity rate, which was not there before, the Chief Minister said.

In the backdrop of the recurring oxygen crisis at the hospitals of the city, the Chief Minister said while the quota has been increased again, the access problems remain.

“Now the oxygen quota of Delhi has increased from 480 to 490 metric tons. However, the requirement is 700 metric tons and what’s reaching us is 330 to 335 metric tonnes only,” he said.
