Google will launch the Pixel 5a 5G phone later this year. The smartphone will be the company’s next budget flagship phone. It is already rumoured to feature a similar design as the Pixel 4a 5G.
Now, a new report says that the Pixel 5a 5G phone will be powered by the same processor as the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G. The latest report by 9to5Google says that they have identified the processor of the upcoming phone through code found in the Android 12 Developer Preview 3.
To recall, Google Pixel 5 is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 chipset. Pixel 5a 5G being a 5G phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 765 chipset with 5G connectivity.
Given the fact that the Google Pixel 5a 5G is expected to come with almost similar design features as the Pixel 4a 5G, the old processor will further complicate how it will be different from older Pixel phones. While Google may have tried to cut on cost with the old chipset, it is yet to be seen how Pixel 5a 5G will be an effective successor to the aptly priced Pixel 4a.
In another news, a leakster has recently suggested that Google has cancelled the Pixel 5a launch. Tipster Jon Prosser said that the phone has been cancelled due to the ongoing chip shortage crisis prevalent in the tech industry.
Readers must note that all these are speculations and nothing official has come from Google’s side on whether or not the phone has been cancelled.
