Maharashtra reported 30,535 fresh COVID-19 cases, the highest rise in a single day. The fresh spike in cases came just three days after Maharashtra recorded its highest rise in a single day at 25,833. Mumbai reported 3,779 fresh COVID-19 cases in the day while ten patients succumbed to the viral infection. Maharashtra is now left with 2,10,120 active cases, while Mumbai has 23,448 active cases. Meanwhile, in another development, the Opposition BJP has continued to demand the resignation of Home Minister Anil Deshmukh after Param Bir Singh’s ‘explosive’ letter over the Rs 100 crore collection target. However, amid speculation in Maharashtra political circles that the state may soon have a new home minister, the NCP has said that there is no question of Deshmukh resigning. Wheres, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar said Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will decide the fate of Deshmukh.
