Maharashtra Covid Guidelines: Maharashtra restricts timings of grocery shops, food shops to four hours a day | Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: A week after imposing stringent restrictions in the state, the Maharashtra government has now restricted timings of grocery shops, vegetable shops, fruit vendors, dairies, bakeries and all types of food shops to just four hours a day, from 7am to 11am.
The restrictions will come into effect from 8pm on Tuesday till 7am on May 1.
However, home delivery from all these shops can continue from 7am to 8pm.
A formal order, issued by chief secretary Sitaram Kunte, mentions that the time restriction will be imposed on shops related to agricultural implementations and farm produce, pet food shops and shops related to materials for impending rainy season as well.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting chaired by deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar.
“From the feedback we are getting from the police the most common excuse given by people who are caught moving out unnecessarily is that they are going grocery shopping,” said public health minister Rajesh Tope who attended the meeting said.
He added, “We will be issuing orders to restrict the timings of grocery shops from 7am to 11am and anyone moving out unnecessarily after that will be penalised.”
