Snatchers held five months after they robbed an elderly woman in Vile Parle | Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: Vile Parle police recently arrested two bike-borne snatchers in a five-month-old case where they robbed away with the gold chain worth Rs 75,000 of an elderly woman.
The incident occurred last year on November 11 when the 61-year-old victim from Vile Parle (East) stepped out of her house and had reached barely 100 metres away on Tejpal Scheme in Vile Parle (East) to buy vegetables when the snatchers Toufiq Shaikh (53) and Sikander Shaikh (43) robbed her at around 5.25pm.
The duo has been into snatching for the last 15 years and has been arrested several times in the past. “The police team has been searching for the duo for the last six months and even visited his two houses in Jogeshwari and Navi Mumbai where his two wives stay. But failed to track him as he hardly visited for an hour at those houses to give money to his wives after robbing. He was arrested from his aide’s Andheri home recently,” said Vile Parle police assistant inspector Kishore Doijad.
Doijad said the Meghwadi police first nabbed Sikander. His arrest led to the arrest of the kingpin. They are in police custody.
